Can home charging make an EV work for you?

A practical review of parking control, electrical capacity and daily range buffer before choosing an EV.

Last reviewed: 2026-08-05

Start with parking control

A nearby socket is not enough. You need dependable access to the same parking position, permission for the installation and a safe cable route.

Use a weekly range buffer

Match your normal weekly distance to a conservative planning range and overnight charging window. Public charging can be backup, not an assumed replacement for home access.
